Your Wednesday Evening Briefing
By ANDREA KANNAPELL AND SANDRA STEVENSON
Good evening. Here's the start of tonight's briefing. Go to the full briefing.
1. The Iran nuclear deal reached a milestone as Barbara Mikulski, above, became the 34th Democratic senator to declare her support, ensuring enough votes to put it into effect. But Republican opponents said they were still looking for ways to undermine the deal, possibly by reimposing sanctions on Iran.
2. President Obama thrilled tiny towns above the Arctic Circle, as he made a final stop on his three-day visit to Alaska. He announced another measure to cope with climate change, increasing funds for infrastructure to help coastal communities threatened by rising waters.
3. Feuding between the top Republican presidential candidates grew more pointed. Jeb Bush made the case in Miami this week that his front-running rival, Donald Trump, was not a conservative, saying "El hombre no es conservador." Mr. Trump responded: "He's a nice man. But he should really set the example by speaking English while in the United States."
