Upcoming Life Support / Active Thermal Webcast
The NASA Engineering and Safety Center, Life Support / Active Thermal Technical Discipline Team, and U.S. Spacesuit Knowledge Capture Program present:

Intra-Extra Vehicular Activity (IEVA) Russian & Gemini Spacesuits

Presenter: Ken Thomas
Date/Time: Wednesday, August 3, 2016 @ 1:00 - 2:30 pm ET
Abstract: Kenneth Thomas will discuss the Intra-Extra Vehicular Activity (IEVA) Russian & Gemini spacesuits, which were multi-purpose vehicle crew escape, survival, and extra-vehicular activity systems worn during launch and reentry. While the United States and Russia adapted to existing launch- and reentry-type suits to allow the first human ventures into the vacuum of space, there were differences in execution and capabilities. Mr. Thomas will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of these approaches compared to exclusively intra-vehicular or extra-vehicular suit systems.
