| Conceived as a response to the constantly changing nature of the photography market, Magnum's Professional Practice seminars deliver guidance for photographers on the practical business of photography. Magnum's Professional Practice events fill a widening gap between academic learning and the professional world, offering unparalleled vocational knowledge often unassociated with the traditional teaching. This event is aimed a wide range of photographers at different stages of their careers: from emerging photographers requiring an understanding of industry protocol, to professional photographers wishing to expand their contacts. This weekend event allows photographers to extend their professional networks with an emphasis on meeting and learning from industry contacts. Professional Practice helps to identify realistic entry routes into employment and paid opportunities, from a wide variety of sectors including advertising, editorial, NGO, publishing and rights management. In their professional capacities, our roster of high profile speakers routinely commission, edit and purchase images for a range of purposes. Each speaker will deliver an hour's presentation on their area of expertise, with plenty of time for questions and informal discussion.
