During Older Americans Month and throughout the year, we urge Americans to appreciate and celebrate the many contributions of older individuals to our society. More than 9 million American seniors (ages 65 and older) are veterans of the armed forces and approximately 16% are in the labor force. According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, about 1 in 3 volunteers is 55 years or older.   To older Americans: thank you for making a positive difference in our nation and in our communities!
