Trump: Obama 'doesn't know what the hell he's doing' on terrorism
Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump told Fox News host Bill O'Reilly late Monday that President Obama's response to Sunday's shootings in Orlando and other recent terrorist attacks has been lacking. "We don't know who's coming in and frankly, our president doesn't know what the hell he's doing," Trump said.

Orlando shooter worked for DHS, State contractor
An international security company confirmed Monday afternoon it was the employer of the man who fatally shot 49 people at an Orlando nightclub early Sunday morning. G4S, a large security organization, is a major federal contractor for the Homeland Security and State departments. The company oversees security at 40 U.S. embassies worldwide and also assists U.S. Border Patrol agents.

Former co-worker: Orlando Killer 'talked about killing people'
A man who worked with Orlando shooter Omar Mateen at an international security company said he made repeated formal complaints about his colleague's aggressive behavior and alleged family connections to al Qaeda, but eventually quit his job when G4S refused to fire Mateen. Daniel Gilroy, a former Fort Pierce police officer, told Florida Today he had raised concerns with his G4S supervisors after Mateen talked about killing people. Gilroy said his complaints were ignored by his superiors because Mateen was Muslim.

Gay gun group: Shoot back
A gay gun group is urging the LGBTQ community to consider carrying weapons to fight back against attacks like the weekend slayings in an Orlando club. Pink Pistols spokesperson Gwendolyn Patton said: "This is exactly the kind of heinous act that justifies our existence. At such a time of tragedy, let us not reach for the low-hanging fruit of blaming the killer's guns. Let us stay focused on the fact that someone hated gay people so much they were ready to kill or injure so many."

But over the last several months Trump showed strength in the polls when some terror attacks - Paris, San Bernardino - happened during the Republican primaries. The question now is what effect a horrendous act of terror will have during the course of a general election campaign.

| On this day 170 years ago, the Bear Flag Revolt began in California. By 1846, Mexican governance of California had degenerated into a state of neglect, with local governors more or less ignoring the central government in Mexico City. A small group of American settlers in California took matters into their own hands. Carrying the famous Bear Flag, they seized control of the Sonoma barracks without any bloodshed and took control of its armaments. A few small skirmishes followed, but the more important development was that, unbeknownst to them thanks to the slow speed of information, the U.S. government had already declared war against Mexico a month earlier. By July, the U.S. Navy had captured Monterey, and in August of that year U.S. Navy Commodore Robert Stockton declared an end to Mexican rule in California. California achieved statehood four years later, in 1850. |

Trump revokes Washington Post's access to his campaign
Donald Trump has blocked Washington Post reporters from receiving press credentials to his campaign events. "Based on the incredibly inaccurate coverage and reporting of the record-setting Trump campaign, we are hereby revoking the press credentials of the phony and dishonest Washington Post," the presumptive Republican presidential nominee wrote on his Facebook page Monday. Trump has previously denied press credentials to reporters and publications his campaign deems unfair, including Politico and the Des Moines Register.

Confidence in newspapers, TV news hits bottom
Confidence in newspapers has hit an all time low in the latest Gallup survey, and TV news is also at a new low, the latest proof that Americans are losing faith in the media. Gallup found that just 20 percent have confidence in newspapers, a 10-point drop in 10 years. TV news saw an identical 10-point drop, from 31 percent to 21 percent.

Editorial: Please stop playing dumb on terrorism, Mr. President
Orlando should not be a moment for lashing out to find scapegoats who had nothing to do with what happened. It should not be a moment of self-loathing. Americans did not bring this upon themselves by including the Second, Fifth and Sixth Amendments in their Constitution - amendments that Senate Democrats are now trying to eradicate with their latest disingenuous proposal. This is a moment when the federal government must finally start taking seriously an enemy that Obama has always underestimated and still steadfastly refuses to name.

Reid: We will force gun control vote
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said Democrats will "force a vote" soon on legislation to ban people on the terror watch list from purchasing guns and explosives. Reid slammed Republicans Monday in a Senate floor speech for refusing to endorse gun control legislation Democrats have introduced over the years, including legislation sponsored by Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., to block terror suspects from buying guns.

Senate Dems killed a more reasonable alternative to their secret-list gun ban
In the wake of the Islamist terror attack that killed 50 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Hillary Clinton and congressional Democrats are vigorously pushing legislation to ban American citizens from purchasing guns if the federal government has a reasonable suspicion the gun may be used in a terrorist attack. This would not have stopped the Orlando shooter, John McCormack of the Weekly Standard notes, and it poses serious constitutional problems because it deprives people of liberty whenever the government simply puts their name on a secret list. But Republicans do have an alternative that would delay the sale of a firearm to someone on the watch list for up to 72 hours if the government can show a judge there's "probable cause" - the same legal standard used to obtain a search warrant. Democrats killed it with a filibuster.

Obama's last move on guns
While President Obama is not ruling out an additional executive action to curb certain types of gun sales, the White House has already admitted that Obama's only remaining move on guns is to use the bully pulpit to press Congress to act. "The president has taken substantial executive actions using as much executive authority as he can," White House press secretary Josh Earnest said Monday, acknowledging that the limit of that authority seems to have been reached.

Conservatives warn: Dems pushing for a 'tyrannical' FEC
Conservative legal experts charged Monday that Democrats are scheming to take control of the Federal Election Commission in order to create a regime at the agency that could improperly target conservatives, and say one of the current Democratic commissioners is already trying to lead the charge. "They want to take it back to the days when they loved it, when the GOP commissioners were essentially docile and at least one could always be counted on to vote with the Democratic commissioners to give the Democrats whatever they wanted, and when the agency employed people like [former IRS nonprofit head] Lois Lerner," Cleta Mitchell, a Republican attorney who specializes in campaign finance law, told the Washington Examiner on Monday.
